Privacy Policy

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for Dragonflyblu.com. This privacy policy is pretty simple because I do not collect credit card info, nor do I rent or sell your email addresses or any of your personal information. However, while visiting this site, or when making a comment on the blog or contacting me via the contact form, you may want to be informed of the following.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, collection of the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser-user-agent-string, help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact form

I am the sole owner of the information collected via the contact form. I only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give me via email or other direct contact from you. I will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

I will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted me. I will not share your information with any third party outside of my organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request for information.

Unless you ask me not to, I may contact you via email in the future to tell you about updated information, news on my services, an email newsletter, or changes to this privacy policy. You will always have the option to opt-out of these emails.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in (as an account holder, guest blogger, or admin), I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Security

I take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever I collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to me in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While I use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, I also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which I store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Links

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that I am not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. I encourage my users to be aware when they leave my site, and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long your data is retained

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so any followup comments are recognized and approved automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data that is held about you including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service because everyone hates spam.
